No, Dollar General Does Not take Apple Pay in 2023.
Unfortunately, Apple Pay is not one of the accepted payment options at Dollar General.
In July 2020, the firm announced that some of their retail shops have been upgraded to support Apple Pay, however, they then reversed this statement and stated that they had no intentions to implement Apple Pay in its stores.

Is there a way to pay with a smartphone at Dollar General?
Dollar General provides a mobile phone application named DG Go that allows you to scan products while shopping and pay with your phone once you’re done.
However, only a limited number of shops accept DG Go payments, so it is important to check first to see if yours does.
Dollar General does not offer any other mobile phone payment alternatives, like Samsung Pay and Google Pay, etc.
Furthermore, Dollar General stores also don’t accept PayPal as one of the methods for payment, both online or in-store
How Do I Use DG Go at Dollar General To Pay With My Phone?
Following these simple steps will allow you to pay with your mobile phone at select Dollar General locations:
- From the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store, get the DG Go app and install it.
- Check if the nearby store accepts DG Go payments using the app’s store locator – If it doesn’t, you’ll have to find another Dollar General shop that does. Use your phone to make a payment.
- Link a form of payment method, such as a gift card, a bank account, or a credit card, to your account.
- Check if there are available digital coupons and save them before heading to your nearby Dollar General store.
- Adding your chosen products to your shopping cart and scanning these product barcodes is easy with the app.
- When you’ve completed shopping, head to the front of the store where the DG Go checkout tablet is located, then click the “I’m ready to checkout”option on the application.
- And then, you need to scan the designated barcode that shows on the tablet using the app – Your purchase will be completed, and the electronic receipt will be given to you right away.
Conclusion
Apple Pay is not accepted in Dollar General or any of the other mobile phone payment apps such as Samsung Pay or Google Pay, and there are no plans for these apps to be added as support in the near future.
